展览简介

第二届画廊周北京将于2018年3月23日至30日举行，参展机构分布在798国际艺术区和草场地艺术区。在画廊周北京甄选委员会对各个机构提交方案的评审后，最终入选17家国内外顶尖画廊、3家非盈利机构。届时，参展机构将共同呈现北京地区年度最重要的当代艺术展览阵容。

The second Gallery Weekend Beijing (GWBJ) is set to be held on May 23-30, 2018. The participating institutes of the event are located in the 798 Art District and the Caochangdi Art District. After a painstaking appraisal of received plans from applying institutes, the Gallery Selection Committee of GWBJ has selected 17 top galleries of domestic or overseas backgrounds, and 3 non-profit institutes. They will join forces to present the landscape of the most important Beijing contemporary art exhibitions of the year.

“画廊周”已经成为国际专业艺术人士交流和分享当代艺术的重要平台。随着当代艺术的发展，画廊的物理空间已经成为艺术家利用的一种材料，画廊从艺术作品的储藏室变为艺术作品的内容本身，变成一个思想碰撞和艺术实验的场所。不同于传统模式的是，画廊周将观众带回精心策展的空间，有助于深入理解艺术家的创作理念，领略各个艺术机构的气质和艺术主张。

"Gallery Weekend" has become an important platform for international art professionals to exchange experiences and share practices in contemporary art. As the contemporary art develops, the physical space of a gallery is no longer an artwork showroom; it has become part of artistic works, a locus for exchanges and experiments. Unlike traditional art expos, "Gallery Weekend" invites audience back to artworks' original, meticulously curated exhibition sites, so that they can gain a deeper understanding of artist's ideas, and appreciate various characters and stands of art institutes.

画廊周北京通过联接北京地区的顶尖国内外当代艺术机构，致力于为全球收藏家、美术馆、艺术爱好者提供一个集中了解和分享前沿当代艺术的推广平台。在画廊周北京期间，画廊、非盈利机构与艺术家将合力呈现一年中最精彩的展览，旨在推动北京艺术生态的良性发展，建立艺术与公众、社会、传媒的跨界交流和对话。

A hub connecting top Beijing contemporary art institutes of domestic or overseas backgrounds, GWBJ is committed to building up a platform for collectors, museums, and art lovers to gain acquaintance with and share the newest achievements of the contemporary art in a single event. In that week the most splendid exhibitions of the year is due to be presented by all participating parties, so as to promote the healthy development of the Beijing artistic ecology, and boost the exchanges and dialogues between art and other fields such as the public, the society, and the media.

In the upcoming GWBJ, several new projects will be added: the Outdoor Public Project, the Special Exhibition of GWBJ, the Forum on VIP Day, and the Public Day. More details will be available soon.
